Mondego Mobility System – Work to adapt a BRT - Metrobus Solution, in the Stretch from Alto de São João to Serpins

Municipalities of Coimbra, Miranda do Corvo and Lousã.

• Axis 1 -Miranda do Corvo / Serpins (MC-S);
• Length of 16 Km;
• Axis 2 -Alto de S. João / Miranda do Corvo (ASJ-MC) - Length of 14 Km.

Âmbito da Intervenção

17 Adapting of metrobus stops (all of the stops with 2 passenger platforms, one for each direction);
5 Direction change roundabouts;
6 Vehicle crossing zones involving the extension of existing platforms;
8 Direction change zones/channel access points for emergency operations;
13 Bridges - On metal bridges to adapt to new profile transversal it will be necessary to build a new deck in reinforced concrete sitting on top of the existing metal structure;
In existing bridges - To adapt to new transversal profile, it will be necessary to demolish existing decks and build new ones;
7 Tunnels – to be paved and security systems installed;
25 Road and Pedestrian Overpass Intercrossings, 6 of which will have traffic lights;
1 Split-level intersection (Overhead road on EN342).

Promotes sustainable mobility by implementing an attractive and competitive mobility service, operated with electric buses, leading to more energy efficient transport with less emissions;
Reinforces the connection between the municipalities of Lousã and Miranda do Corvo with the urban center of Coimbra, without interchanges, in a safe and reliable manner, strengthening economic and social integration.
